"Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, And lean NOT on your own understanding; In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and HE shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV (Emphasis added)
THINK
We are living in an age where we have unlimited information at our fingertips. The temptation is to lean into this information and our own experiences to guide how we live, help us make decisions and navigate relationships. And yet, even this vast access to knowledge pales in comparison to the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord. God is omniscient, which means He is outside of space and time. He is all knowing (1 John 3:20). His ways and thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). His direction for our lives has already considered the past and the future. He created us with purpose (Ephesians 2:10). His plans for our today are already woven together to impact five hours from now, five days from now, and five years from now. None of us possess this insight. It is because of this that He asks us to trust Him with ALL of our heart and NOT lean on our own understanding. He wants us to trust that even in the hard times He is weaving together His purpose for our lives and all the lives around us that He created us to impact. Trusting Him is how we flourish in this life. We can choose to give the responsibility and authority to the One who knit us together in our mother's womb. The One who has already written our days on His hand. The One who loves us unconditionally. And is working all things together for the good of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
ACT
Trusting the Lord requires us to surrender our limited understanding and personal agenda for our own lives. It requires us to humble ourselves before Him. We then can seek Him, through His word and prayer, for the next steps on the path that He already designed us to walk on. So, invite Him in today. Get to know Him. Through prayer, surrender. Ask Him what He has for you today, then listen and obey.
PRAY
Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me and having a plan for my life. I choose to trust You with my understanding Please lead me in Your paths of righteousness and let Your will be done in my life on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
