Walk in the Authority He Gives

"Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you." Luke 10:19 NLT

Picture this: the seventy disciples Jesus had just dispatched to go throughout Israel, not only to preach the Kingdom of God but also to manifest it with the same signs and wonders Jesus had shown. They were manifesting heaven on earth. In Luke 10:18, they come back, all excited and ignited because they saw God move through them, and to this Jesus speaks over them one of the most impactful declarations to a follower of Jesus: "Look, I have given you authority…"

As disciples of Jesus, we have been given authority to walk not only in victory but also to manifest the supernatural in our daily lives — in the way we speak, how we love our neighbor, and how we pray for each other. Jesus said we have been given authority "over all the power of the enemy." This means we do not have to be afraid of the enemy, for he is under our feet. We have been given the victory over him by the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

Now, the key to this victory is in verse 20: "But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven." This is a truth we must never forget. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become daughters. It is only then that we acquire a position of authority and power over all powers of darkness.

ACT

Read this verse slowly, and ask yourself: Do I believe — am I convicted, confident — that I have been given authority over all powers of the enemy, or am I still fearful of the accuser, the enemy, the devil?

Am I confident that as Jesus' follower I am able to manifest the power of heaven here on earth? When challenges arise, do I default to natural responses, or do I take steps of faith in accordance with my position and power as God's child?

Our challenge today is to live out the supernatural in us. The Holy Spirit, God Himself in us, wants to move through us to bring heaven to earth in our daily lives. We must never forget that we are naturally supernatural.
