"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
THINK
This verse has been speaking to me for months. Since last November, it has gone from being a verse I knew well to becoming an anchor in my life. Every time I return to it, God seems to reveal a fresh reminder of His truth.
We live in a world that encourages us to consume more—more podcasts, more devotionals, more books, convinced one more resource will be the breakthrough we need. Those things are wonderful, but sometimes thriving isn't found in moving on to something new. Sometimes it's found in staying.
I've been learning that being rooted in Christ looks a lot like staying planted. Roots grow slowly. Returning to the same passage allows God's truth to move from your head into your heart until Scripture becomes something you carry instead of something you simply read.
The last couple of years have held more grief, uncertainty, and weakness than I ever imagined. There were seasons when this wasn't just a verse I read—it became the truth I clung to. There have been many days I've felt emotionally, physically, and even at times spiritually exhausted—simply unable to carry everything. But God never condemned my weakness. He wasn't asking me to manufacture strength I didn't have. Instead, He met me there.
Like many of us, I've begged God to remove my weakness, give me more energy, or increase my capacity. Instead, He has gently reminded me that His grace is enough. I've come to realize that weakness isn't always something God rushes to remove. So often it's the very place where His grace becomes most evident. When I stop striving in my own strength, I make room for His.
Being rooted in Christ means renewing my mind daily with His Word. I may still wake up tired, but I also wake up with peace in the middle of chaos, joy in difficult seasons, and strength that isn't my own. That’s why I keep coming back to this verse. I love how The Passion Translation puts it: "My power finds its full expression through your weakness." Thriving isn't the absence of weakness. It's staying so rooted in Christ that His strength is what sustains you.
ACT
Choose one verse and stay with it. Read it. Pray it. Write it down. Memorize it. Don't rush to the next devotion or the next chapter before God has finished speaking through the one in front of you. Let His Word become so rooted in your heart that it begins shaping the way you think, respond, and live.
PRAY
Father, thank You that Your grace is always enough. Thank You that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. Root me deeply in Your Word so I learn to depend on Your strength instead of my own. Open my eyes to recognize Your presence and power in every season, and teach me to truly thrive by remaining in You—the source of my peace, strength, and rest. Amen.
