Seated With Him

“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6 NIV

THINK

One day, I was quiet before Jesus, sitting at His feet. I was going through a very trying season, one that seemed to be lasting far longer than I expected. If I am honest, I was tired, disappointed, and hurt. My hope was beginning to diminish. That day, I decided to just get on my hands and knees, pour my heart out to Jesus, and then be quiet in His presence. With my eyes closed, I saw Jesus coming toward me. It was such a quiet and precious moment. He gently took my hand and brought me with Him into the heavenly realms. He seated me beside Him and said, “This is where you are. This is your place. You are seated with Me.”

Immediately, something changed inside of me. The feeling of defeat began to melt away, and my hurting heart began to be filled with His love. I no longer felt tired but encouraged, empowered, and strengthened by Him. The circumstances around me had not changed, but my perspective did.

Many times, Jesus doesn't immediately remove us from the difficult situation. Instead, He invites us to see that situation from an eternal perspective. If you have been fighting for a long time and you are beginning to feel tired and defeated, I want to remind you that you are not fighting from a place of defeat. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. From that position, we can see things differently. The problem that seemed so overwhelming becomes smaller when we remember the greatness of the One who is with us. You are not only seated with Jesus, the One who conquered death on the cross, you are also in the presence of God who created the universe!

Suddenly, we can step outside of ourselves and begin to see the bigger picture, not just our circumstances, but the Kingdom vision and our position in it.

ACT

So today, I want you to ask yourself: How would I see my circumstances if I truly believed I was seated with Christ? What would look different if I viewed my situation from His perspective instead of my own? Take some time to pray about those things.
